The SACES executive
board is pleased to announce the 2008 Emerging Leaders Workshop
to be held at the SACES conference in Houston, Texas, Thursday,
October 23, 2008 from 1 to 5 pm. Drs. Don Locke and Pam Paisley,
who have both been extraordinary leaders in SACES, will conduct
the workshop. The Emerging Leaders workshop is designed to
help students and new faculty members to discover how leadership
can enhance their own professional development, to enhance
the diversity of SACES, and to help engage talented and dedicated
leaders with SACES. In addition, the presenters will provide
an overview of SACES leadership opportunities and introduce
participants to current SACES leadership.
Each
year, two emerging leaders from each state are nominated
by the state ACES president for the SACES Emerging Leader
Fellowship. These state sponsored participants will receive
a stipend for attendance to the workshop and conference.
State ACES presidents will determine a selection criteria
which considers the nominees’ commitment to the profession
of Counselor Education and Supervision, their leadership
experience and potential, and their participation in state,
regional, and/or national ACES organizations and conferences.
Preference should be given to students and new professionals,
and at least one of the two emerging leaders should enhance
diversity, with particular attention to racial/ethnic diversity.
Although each state sponsors two participants (with a stipend)
attendance is open to anyone who is interested in participating
while space is available. If you are interested in being
sponsored for a fellowship by your state ACES, please contact
your state ACES president. If you are interested in attending
without the fellowship forward your vitae and a letter of
recommendation to:
