The call for proposals is now open to fund innovative best practices and research studies related to counselor education and supervision. SACES will fund up to six proposals for up to $500 each. 

This grant competition is open to both professional and student members of SACES. Because of their need and because of the limited funding available for student research, student researchers are especially encouraged to apply. Individuals may submit (or be part of a submission team) for only one proposal.

Each of the five ACES regions nominate one student to serve as the ACES Graduate Student Representative (GSR). From these five nominations, the ACES Governing Council will choose one student to serve in this position. This is a three year serviced position: designee, current, and past GSR.

SACES is currently accepting applications from doctoral students who are early in their academic program (a graduate student serving as a GSR must hold doctoral student/doctoral candidate status for at least 2 years of their service and only the final year could be served as a new faculty member or supervisor) to be the SACES nominee. • A cover letter describing your educational and other relevant experiences to the position, including your previous and/or current involvement with ACES and SACES.
  
• A current CV
• Your answer to this question (posed by ACES): "Suppose you were selected for the GSR position, what would be different in a year service position that would show it was useful, that you were the right person to apply, and that ACES was right to have selected you?"

The SACES Career Connection will take place at the SACES Conference in New Orleans on Friday, October 7 from 8am-5pm and Saturday, October 8 from 8am-2pm. SACES will have a direct link (coming soon) for university employers who have faculty positions available and job seekers, which will direct each interested party to the SACES webpage (www.saces.org) to upload their materials to participate in the SACES Career Connection. 

To prepare for the SACES Career Connection, employers will be given the opportunity to post their open positions in a virtual portal that will allow prospective job seekers an opportunity to learn about positions before the conference.

For job seekers, candidates will upload their CVs so that employers may review their credentials ahead of the conference and potentially contact them for a meeting at the conference.

The links to the employer and job seeker portals will be launching soon on the SACES website. Questions about the Career Connection should be addressed to Margaux Brown and Marcela Kepic at SACEScareerconnection2016@gmail.com.

In an effort to continue meeting the needs of counselor educators and supervisors, after the end of the Career Connection at the SACES Conference the SACES LinkedIn group (you can request access to the SACES LinkedIn page by clicking here: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/4544312) will start focusing on promoting employment opportunities and relevant materials for job success. 

The SACES Executive Board is issuing a call for nominees for the SACES President-Elect-Elect (2017-2020) and Secretary (2017-2018). View the SACES Bylaws (Articles IV, V, and VIII) for a description of the officer positions, executive council duties, and election of officers procedures.

The board is accepting nominations and self-nominations. If you are interested in running or nominating someone for one of these positions, please contact Shawn Spurgeon at sspurgeo@utk.edu.

For self-nominations, please include:

•  A one paragraph Statement of Interest in serving the SACES membership; this paragraph will be seen by SACES members during the voting process
• A copy of your CV
